Prerequisites
The course does not foresee any formal prerequisite. However, some familiarity with policy analysis, some fundamental micro-economics principles, and EU single market policy - although not required - would be helpful.

Type of Assessment
Students attending classes regularly will present a written report (developed in small groups) on a specific theme to be agreed with the professor. Students not attending classes regularly will take an oral examination on the readings indicated above in the TEXTS section.
Course program
Technology, markets, and politics, will be the three levels of our analysis of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) policy sector. Part 1. We will first consider some main concepts and facts about ICT. Of course we will not address them at the level of an engineering school level. We will just address them to the extent needed to understand ICT policies. Part 2. The same for the second part of our course: ICT markets. We will focus on the evolution of the "I" and "C" Technology's markets and their structure, to the extent required to understand ICT policies. Part3. Will concentrate on policy, more in particular on European Union Policy in the ICT sector. Still more in particular well focus on the objective of the Digital Agenda od the broader Europe 2020 Strategy,
